5 Inch gauge GWR City of Truro

Ref: 5 Inch gauge city of Truro

Nicely Built 5 Inch Gauge Gwr City of Truro, unique opportunity to own a superb locomotive admired by many GWR  Enthusiasts, complet with current boiler Certificate.

Pro Boiler (swindon boilers) with Superheaters, axle pump, Steam Injector, Tender Hand Pump, GWR Livery, Mechanical Oil Lubricators, Mechanical Drain Cocks,

Trevor at Swindon Copper boilers and the first club certificate so you will see it had very little use then and very little since coming back and joining the club near here.  There is no wear at all in the motion.

The design is to Kennions and not the later Keith Wilson.

The boiler has a blank threaded plug on the backhead so an extra clack could be added if an axle driven pump wanted to be added, a eccentric and pump can be fitted under the tender. The right hand feed to the top of the boiler is also spare and has a blanked clack below the running board.

The springs on the main drivers are sprung steel and Tufnell strips giving more flexibility to the engine running over bumpy track, be sure to locate the central pin of the springs into the locating holes in the tops of the axle boxes for the engine to run correctly. The tender  and heavily sprung, designed to be sat on if you want to run ground level. The pump in the tender has a large bore and pumps well.

The front sanding boxes are oil reservoirs for part of the motion, you will need a oil can with a long thin extension tube and torch to get to the eccentric's and big ends  when oiling round.

The lubricator is under the smokebox and the front running board lifts up, its a clutchless type and very reliable.

The black taps on the front of the tender are the water for the injectors, if the handle is facing forwards they let water through, if turned 180% to the engine the water is off. The injectors are located under the footplate. Difficult to get to but the engine looks more realistic.

Have also include the lining booklet I brought when I finished the loco, was going to fully line it out, but after 11 years and researching the engine, and ex railwaymen in Swindon telling me it would look more authentic the way it is now.
